Phu My new urban area is located in the southeast of Quang Ngai city, within the administrative boundaries of Nghia Chanh ward and Nghia Dong commune, Quang Ngai city, Quang Ngai province. The project consists of a low-rise residential area, villas, commercial service facilities linked to the park and regulating reservoir.
In the context where there is no central park or themed space of sufficient scale for people to come for leisure and entertainment in the city, the central park of the new urban area Phu My, with a predicted area of 8.7 hectares, is expected to be the largest park in Quang Ngai province. The park combines a system of small flower gardens within the urban area to create a significant green core, contributing to complete the urban utility system.
During the project’s research, Eden Landscape architects found that the terrain here is a combination of agricultural plains and long-standing granite mountainous areas, with a difference of 6-8 meters, forming a natural space and partly intervened by humans in the process of stone exploitation. The predominant geology is sandy soil combined with black granite, and in this area, there is a hill with large-sized underground rocks, intermingled with small stones, creating a lively and natural landscape. Moreover, the design area is located in the former La Ha stone field, a famous location with Quang Ngai people. Currently, this heritage has been deteriorated due to urban development and human intervention, but in La Ha town and surrounding areas such as in the project, some of the landscape and artifacts of this field are still preserved. Exploiting the natural land form along with the meaningful story of the land, Eden Landscape architects propose a landscape design plan for the central park of Phu My new urban area to become a themed park using the language of landscape design to honor the local cultural values. Transforming the abandoned rocky hill area into a vibrant, colorful garden full of energy. Eden Landscape designs a rock garden, simulating the beautiful landscape of the La Ha stone field, where residents can admire harmonious combination of stone and trees, water and fish, people and scenery.
