“Lá khoai” landmark on Ruby Square, Goldmark City was created from the inspiration of colocasia leaves and Vietnamese traditional ceramic. The motifs of the landmarks were drawn from the idea of life source with hot colors showing the positive and strong energy of ruby square. Mosaic pieces were heated with 1200 degrees Celsius during 48 hours to 60 hours to enhance the durability of their colors and longevity against the impacts of weather. The special landmark in the square were two clumps of 11 colocasia leave pavilions, each “Lá khoai” has self-designed patterns, and they were all handmade. Architects, artist and pottery craftsmen had to work many hours together to come up with the most effective constructing method. Over 300,000 pieces of ceramic were located and numbered on the site, the scans of ceramic then were delivered to Bat Trang workshop. After ceramic mosaic pieces were checked for quality and color, they were transported to the site for craftsmen to tile. They perform their work with great precision because slight mistake could lead to start from scratch.
Pioneer in applying Bat Trang ceramics into landscape architecture, Eden landscape has contributed to create a new chapter for traditional ceramics. At the same time, creating a larger building material market for Bat Trang pottery village in particular and Vietnamese traditional ceramic mosaic in general.
