Mekong Aqualight City


Mekong Aqualight City is a commercial residence complex, a part of Bao Ninh 2 urban zone, Quang Binh. The project is situated at an ideal location, bordering the seaside Vo Nguyen Giap route and the route to Nhat Le 2 bridge. The structures’s front is faced to the roundabout and the seaside square, giving the project a magnificent view. In addition, Mekong Aqualight City’s impressive structural design with its soft outlines serves to bring out its diverse outdoors spaces. This not only creates a visual appeal architecturally, but also gives the designers an opportunity to create a vertical garden on the buildings. The central yard’s spaciousness gives an advantage to Eden Landscape’s architects to construct a wonderful landscape center area. It not only serves the building’s functionality, but also acts as an aesthetics highlight for the buildings’ façade.

The land of Quang Binh is famous for the name “Kingdom of caverns” – indeed, the province is home to over 300 caverns including the phenomenally popular caverns, known all over the world such as Son Doong, Phong Nha Ke Bang, Thien Duong, Hang En, … The natural beauty of the caverns comes from the system of stalactites. The underground streams seeping into the caverns, originating from nearby limestone mountains, condensating through millions of years have created layers of splendid stalactites in the shape of terraced fields. Underground lakes and rivers twisting and turning, giving advanturers and discoverers captivating experiences. Natural sinkholes, height up to 200 metres and width up to 150 metres, letting sun rays shine down into the vegetation below creating manificent spectacles. The beauty of the caverns has acted as the chief inspiration for Eden Landscape architects in designing the landscape of Mekong Aqualight City.

With the goal of creating an attractive highlight for the central and front area of the buildings, Eden Landscape decided to create the square space with a multi-leveled fountain. With the buildings’ façade facing Vo Nguyen Giap road, the multi-leveled fountain both provides natural visual and aural appeal and conditions the inner climate of the buildings. The inner yards with a system of water sprays are the main activity area for residents and visitors, while also acting as the attraction point for shoppers visiting the shophouses. In addition, sightseeing booths are organized, with shapes inspired by the lines of cavern stalactites. Separated levels creates gaps to let light rays penetrate tropical bushes, giving an ecological and natural effect to the sightseeing space. The surface of the sightseeing booths utilized the method of decorating with horizontal concrete patterns, simulating the structure of stalactites in natural caves.

Mekong Aqualight City with its advantages of connecting to public spaces such as the seaside square and Bikini Garden allows its residents to easily access and experience sports, sightseeing, relaxation activities. This has relieved the demand for utilities for residents living in its buildings, allowing Eden Landscape to create an impressively unique landscape space for Mekong Aqualight City.
