Hoian d’Or Ecological Agricultural Area

The Hoian d’Or project is ideally located adjacent to the heart of Hoi An Ancient Town, on Con Bap Islet in Cam Nam Ward, Hoi An City. Covering nearly 25 hectares, the project enjoys the advantage of being surrounded by rivers on three sides, offering a fresh, open natural environment, while its northern boundary adjoins an existing residential area. The project has been comprehensively developed with the participation of four renowned design consultancy firms: Eden Landscape, VTN Architects, 1+1>2, and Huni Architectes. Their collaboration promises to create a distinctive and one-of-a-kind real estate destination in Hoi An.

As the heart of the entire development, the Hoian d’Or Ecological Agricultural Area was designed by Eden Landscape with the vision of creating an experiential tourism destination centered on ecology, while celebrating the environmental and indigenous values of the land. The design is highly adaptable to the area’s flood conditions, while enabling the operation of tourism and service activities both day and night, throughout both the dry and flood seasons. The project aims to become an attractive destination for domestic and international visitors, while celebrating the rustic beauty of the landscape and the people of Hoi An.

The Hoian d’Or Ecological Agricultural Area presented Eden Landscape with an opportunity to bring Vietnam’s traditional agricultural heritage to the world. One of the key sources of inspiration for the design was The Adventures of Cricket (Dế Mèn phiêu lưu ký), the classic children’s literary work by Vietnamese writer Tô Hoài. The courageous and compassionate character of Dế Mèn, together with his journey of discovering new lands and experiencing the rustic, deeply ecological beauty of the Vietnamese countryside, became the narrative foundation for the project. The story also evokes profound values of human relationships, solidarity, compassion, sharing, dedication, and the love of work – qualities deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture.

Eden Landscape skillfully integrated the story of Dế Mèn with the indigenous heritage of Hoi An, drawing inspiration from its renowned traditional crafts and agricultural practices, including organic farming in Cẩm Thanh, Trà Quế Vegetable Village, Kim Bồng Carpentry Village, and Thanh Hà Pottery Village. These cultural elements were woven into a cohesive design concept throughout the project, providing a rich foundation for its decorative elements, landscape features, architectural language, and spatial experiences.
